Post 2: Introduction

The evolution theory has been a controversial topic since the very first publication of “the origin of the species” by Charles Darwin in 1859. This theory has changed throughout years, and right now it is composed by the Darwin main ideas plus the genetic model of Mendel, this means, the ideas of natural and sexual selection plus the idea of the genetic inherited characters. The actual status of the theory, in a simplified way, tell us that the most capable organism will survive, and then would naturally reproduce, creating a capable offspring which would get the best characteristics through the AND to survive, making the evolution process improve gradually all the organisms. Science has advanced, currently many people accept this theory as one of the 3 most important theories in the biology field, with the cellular theory and the chromosomal theory of the inheritance, although, it is still a controversial topic, especially in some specific parts of the population, like the religi...

Final blog :(

In general, we learned English here in a new way (for me at least), I think we hadn’t learned a lot of new things, we learned some details and new words, but not new contents at all, but we have put in practice all that we know of this language, in different ways, in the oral interaction, and in the (now important) digital medias. I like a lot those methods, in particular I can say that the use of the blogs was interesting, because for me, internet interaction has been always like the first method with which I have learned English, there are some particularities that makes it different of the oral interaction, a bit funnier (the memes). The aspect that I know I need to improve the most, is the pronunciation, is terrible, the words in my mind sound correct, but when they come out, them doesn’t sound like I want, I realized this, in part because of the videos (well, I never liked how I sound in records). Also, I realized that the words don’t sound good specially when I am nervous, I...

GPOY (not me)

Well, I am not a person who like photos too much, specially photos of me, but there is a good photo, of one of the best things in the world, a dog, a cute dog (look that nose). She, the cute Golden retriever of the photo is Kyra, she is my friend from like 6 years Since I born, we always had pets, always dogs which lived a lot with us, first were Mimi and patapata, them were mom and daughter, both typical Chilean kiltros, a bit of black, brown and white hair, medium size and just normal behaviors. The first one (Mimi) died when I was a child, I remember she drowned with something :(  , then was only patapata, which was with us until something like 2009, we suffered a lot when they gone :(( Kyra arrived at our house because one of my uncles know somebody who was gifting puppies, and asked to us if we want one of them, at the start it was a hard decision, dogs are a responsibility and all that kind of things, but at the end we decided to keep her, also two of my cous...

Winter holidays

Hello everybody, winter holidays are upcoming and I want to share some thoughts about them. When I was younger, I mean 6 years approx. I wasn’t used to go out in any holidays, obviously, my whole family too, for the sake of the economy.  So, my very first trip in holidays was on a very cold winter, we went to Bucalemu a small town in the south nearby to Pichilemu, I can remember the cold. We went to a little house at the outskirts of the town. A very peaceful place, a bit boring for my actual me, but very exciting for the 6 years old me. For me that was an amazing experience, I remember myself being ridiculously happy. Currently, as a family, we don’t trip on winter holidays, not because we can’t like in the past, now it’s just because we don’t want, my brothers and I prefer to stay at home, I think it is because we have grown up. The fact is that we think winter is the best moment to stay at home, don’t get out of bed, eat and watch series. The heat of the bed is be...

Changes to my study program (?)

About the study program of the career I am currently coursing. (anthropology in the U de Chile) In my opinion the curriculum of the program is very good; obviously I selected this career in this university because I liked the curriculum. It has all what I want and gives me the possibilities to choose between 3 specializations, including archaeology, in which I am interested. In the case of the workload, I feel it right, we don’t have a big amount of in person class, but in exchange we have to read a lot, anyway it isn’t a problem for itself, but the thing I don’t like, and I would change a bit, is the homework mechanics that I personally don’t like and become a problem when they send all the homework and evaluated homework at the same time, it’s very stressing. In relation to the methods of teaching, I like them in general, I like the practice methods that the most of my professors use. In general I like what we are learning and how, the infrastructure is not the best...

Postgraduate studies

As a student, when I think in my future, the first thing that comes to my mind is to keep studying, probably because I am used to. So, what I would study after ending my bachelor? I am studying anthropology, and planning to pick the archaeology specialty.  So, when I finish my anthropology-archaeology studies, I would like to delve into the archaeologist duty, because I really enjoy studying it and I like to finish what I do in the most completely way as possible, that means that I want to get all the knowledge related to archaeology, as far as possible. Also, there is the fact that in this moment, the postgraduate studies are very common, so thinking in future work activity, it may help me to get better Jobs. For doing what I want and what I may need, I want to get a master’s degree in archaeology in the University of Chile, and then, in a farther future, get a doctorate, in archaeology, probably in USA, mainly because that doctorate doesn’t exist in the university of Chil...

The job I would like to do in the future.

In the future, i would like to work as an ethnologist, for many reasons.  The first one is that I really like the cultural contact, I mean, learn about a culture directly from the alive people, for me is the best way to learn about the human behavior. Also, I like that for that method, you have to go to the culture you want or need to know, not stay waiting for it, that involve going to interesting places full of different cultural elements, a change of atmosphere, between the modern world and a more human world. There are some important things I must improve before becoming an ethnologist, or a good one, like my communication skills, in order to a better understanding of the people which I would have to interview, and my proactiveness, because I am currently too lazy for doing a good ethnologist job. When you do a job, you expect something in return, in my case, from being an ethnologist; I want the personal satisfaction of a better understanding of the world, learning,...
